Since Ed Fella specializes in these surreal “mash ups” of different letter forms and materials, I made two collage images inspired largely by his thesis work, which I personally found most interesting. Both images are divided into squares, and designed to swap seamlessly between each other, creating a multitude of new mash-ups and combinations.
The text includes biographical information about Ed Fella, quotes from the artist, and comments on my thoughts behind the project. The images used in the hand-made collages were from free-domain image sources, and I looked for things similar in style to those found in Fella’s own work. These were mainly photographs, 50′s style illustrations, and copies of paintings and lithographs.
