Designed to illustrate Rand’s emphasis on the grid in contrast to Carson’s more random and experimental style. The book alternates periodically between two texts, one corresponding with each artist. Carson’s pages are set in red so the reader can easily identify one essay from the other, and have red bands on the outside to distinguish them when flipping through the book. For legibility reasons, Carson’s text is not as over-the-top as his own personal style, but instead implements hints of spontaneity to illustrate the contrast between himself and Rand.
